What Legal Considerations Affect Solar Power In Florida?
Solar power is becoming more and more common across the country, and as it increases in popularity, advocates frequently work with local and state governments to give citizens more access to solar.
Florida residents who purchase solar can also take advantage of the federal tax credit. The federal tax credit, formally known as the Solar Investment Tax Credit (SITC), provides qualified home and business owners a tax credit for the purchase of solar. In other words, a home or business owner can offset the cost of their solar panel system using the tax credit.
The Florida Renewable Energy Technologies and Energy Efficiency Act of 2006 also provides citizens with tax credits and rebates on photovoltaic systems.1 The Act allows qualified solar customers to receive a rebate based on the power output rating of their solar systems. There is a $20,000 cap for private citizens and a $100,000 cap for businesses.
